Flydubai signs deal with Interior Ministry to assist indigent inmates

Lt. Gen. HH Sheikhe Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, recently attended the Memorandum of Unversatnding signing between the Faraj Fund, representing the Ministry of the Interior; Emarat Al Youm, representing Dubai Media Inc.; and Flydubai Airlines.

The goal of the agreement is to improve the mutual cooperation between these organizations and offer help to the Punitive and Correctional Establishments’ insolvent inmates and families throughout the country. The memorandum is meant to settle any of the inmates’ financial debts so that they may be released from jail.

“The Faraj Fund was a charitable humanitarian initiative launched by His Highness to alleviate the suffering of inmates who are unable to settle their outstanding debts due to financial problems,” Major Gen. Nasser Al Nuaimi said. “Signing this (memorandum) and joining hands with another national institution reflect the success of the previous campaigns carried out during the past years to help indigent inmates in the Punitive and Correctional Establishments and their families".

Tickets for deported inmates will also be paid in full.

“We are honored to be able to provide support to this pioneering initiative, which has secured the release of a large number of insolvent inmates, with the support of the Ministry of Interior and Emarat Al Youm newspaper, and the generous contributions of charitable and philanthropic Emirati individuals and institutions,” Flydubai CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith said. “We look forward to contribute to the release of more eligible indigent inmates through this noble initiative.”
