Wood Group awarded Saudi Aramco offshore contract

Saudi Aramco has awarded Wood Group an offshore maintain potential program contract for Greenfield and Brownfield engineering services.

The contract will provide for procurement, services and construction management support for new facilities located in the Arabian Gulf. The duration of the contract is six years, with provisions for two three-year renewals. It includes the establishment of an offshore engineering center of excellence that will be located in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia.

In the United States, work covered by the contract will be done by personnel from Wood Group Mustang. Work in Saudi Arabia will be performed by personnel from joint venture Mustang-HDP. Between the two sites, jobs will be provided for as many as 300 people.

“We look forward to helping Saudi Aramco to implement its offshore production strategies and to developing the Al Khobar centre of excellence," Wood Group Mustang CEO Michele McNichol said. "The center will help to establish offshore engineering capabilities in Saudi Arabia by transferring Wood Group Mustang’s record-setting experience, strong technical and project management resources, and flexible, innovative approach.”

The relationship between Mustang-HDP and Saudi Aramco dates back to 2011, when a general engineering services contract was signed. Under the terms of that contract, a plan emerged for engineering, procurement and construction management services for onshore and offshore oil and gas projects in Saudi Arabia.
