ARCADIS contracted for Doha metro Gold Line designs

ARCADIS, a Dutch design and management consultancy firm, has been contracted to consult on the Gold Line of Doha’s metro rail system, a major development project already under construction in the Qatari capital.

The Gold Line is planned as the biggest of the Doha metro’s new rail lines, running through the city from east to west. It will have 13 underground stations, and ARCADIS will provide detailed design and coordination of architectural finishes for at least 10 of those.

Based on previous work done for the Doha metro’s Red Line, ARCADIS expects the design phase to take a year and construction support an additional two years, which amounts to a contract worth around $22 million.

ARCADIS leaders are pleased about the contract not just for that job, but for the many more that may follow as Qatar moves forward on major infrastructure projects over the next decade.

Infrastructure Global Business Leader of ARCADIS in the Middle East Sameer Daoud said his aim is for the company’s design expertise to be part of that development.

"We believe that Doha's projects are becoming more advanced and intricate as the market matures,” Daoud said. “This signifies the industry's efforts in achieving more milestones linked towards the nation's 2030 vision, and we are proud to be a part of another project with Qatar Rail Company."
