Jordan's Queen Alia airport reports changes in cargo and passenger traffic

Airport International Group (AIG), the Jordanian company responsible for the rehabilitation of Airport International Group (AIG), recently revealed that Jordan's Queen Alia International Airport's (QAIA) 2015 year-to-date cargo traffic numbers were up 7.4 percent from the same period in 2014.

From January to May, 40,099 tons of cargo moved through the airport.

Passenger traffic, however, was down 8.1 percent from last year. From January to May, 2.65 million passengers traveled through QAIA. Aircraft movements were also down, falling to 27,624 (6.3 percent).

In May 2015, QAIA handled 8,809 tons as opposed to 7,525 tons of cargo during the same month in 2014 -- a 17.1-percent jump.

During the month, QAIA received 565,591 passengers compared to 605,564 in 2014, a 6.6 percent drop, and registered 5,980 aircraft movements as opposed to 6,323 in 2014 (a decrease of 5.4 percent).
