Employees of Vodafone Qatar are teaming with Qatar Charity over Ramadan to deliver Iftar meals to worker camps in the Ras Laffan Industrial City, the industrial hub outside of Doha that is administered by Qatar Petroleum.

Vodafone employees will deliver 400 Iftar meals to Industrial City workers each week. Iftar is the large meal eaten when the sun goes down after a day of Ramadan fasting.

For each hour employees volunteer, Vodafone has pledged to donate nearly $275 to Qatar Charity’s Family Sponsorship program, which supports low-income families in the Gulf nation.

“We are so proud of our employees who are always quick to do good things for the community when opportunities arise,” Dana Haidan, Vodafone Qatar’s head of corporate social responsibility, said. ”Empowering employees to do good and supporting employee charity initiatives is one of our core beliefs at Vodafone. We are honored to support all Qatar Charity’s initiatives that have helped millions of people in Qatar and around the globe.”

Qatar Charity’s Nasser Al Yafei is enthusiastic about the partnership with Vodafone since cooperation between non-profits and businesses immeasurably helps the beneficiaries. It is especially important now, he said, in the Holy Month of Ramadan, as it is the month of giving.
