In an effort to make patient care better as well as to increase the quality of research and education, major healthcare systems University of Pennsylvania Health System and VPS Healthcare of Abu Dhabi partnered Monday.

“It is an historic occasion for both organizations," Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, VPS Healthcare's managing director, said. "We are very excited about the partnership and for an internationally recognized and prestigious institution like Penn Medicine to partner with us, a private and multinational provider health system, speaks volumes for us.”

Ralph Muller, University of Pennsylvania Health System CEO, agreed with Dr. Vayalil.

“It is indeed a strategic opportunity to work with a visionary organization like VPS," Muller said. "They do exemplary work here in the UAE. Their commitment to excellence and eagerness to partner with the best for outstanding patient care services and other programs at its various institutions across the region is truly commendable.”

The partnership's components will include educational sessions, review of patient care standards and further education for medical personnel including physicians, nurses and other professionals.
