Unilever Gulf, Dubai Holding win big at Corporate Health Awards

Dubai Holding, the government of Dubai’s official investment arm, and Unilever Gulf FZE, the consumer goods manufacturer, won two awards each at the Daman Corporate Health Awards in the United Arab Emirates.

Daman Corporate Health Awards honors companies that promote the health and wellness of employees.

Dubai Holding took home the Daman Award for Corporate Health and Wellness (Organization) and the Corporate Wellness Team of the Year Award. As a branch of the Emirate’s government, Dubai Holding has worked to cultivate a healthier Dubai in line with the government’s health initiatives.

The holding company developed and implemented a large workplace wellness program incorporating more physical activity and better nutrition into the workday. The company has also taken steps to raise employee awareness and knowledge about healthy living. Dubai Holding has seen results from the program, with employees missing less work and seeing fewer medical costs.

Unilever Gulf FZE took honors for CSR Employee Engagement of the Year and Health & Safety Initiative of the Year categories. Unilever Gulf’s innovative "Agile Working" policy of allowing employees to work flexibly while ensuring that the needs of the business are met helped the company win the recognition.

“Congratulations to these two organizations as to all the winners for championing the cause of workplace wellness,” Dr. Michael Blitzer, CEO of the National Health Insurance Company-Daman that organized the ceremony, said. “It is no surprise that our winners are also known leaders in their respective business categories – they see the value that wellness programs have not only in improving employee wellbeing and productivity, but also in ensuring corporate health overall.”
