Ooredoo Kuwait's volunteer program lauded

Ooredoo Kuwait CEO and General Manager Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Thani was among the 12 professionals on the ICT Leadership Panel, which took place Dec. 13 in Dubai.

At a gala held after the panel, telecommunications service provider Ooredoo was honored with the Telecom Review Excellence Award for Best CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Program for its Ooredoo Volunteer Program.

The Ooredoo program, launched in 2015 with support from the Kuwait Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, the Ministry of Youth and Kuwaiti Red Crescent, saw 800 Kuwaiti volunteers contribute their time to youth-related causes.

"I am so grateful to receive this award, which I dedicate to our 800 volunteers, our partners at the Kuwait Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor, the Ministry of Youth, Kuwaiti Red Crescent and our own team who worked so hard on this initiative," Al Thani said. "We feel responsible toward the youth segment, and we wanted from this initiative to help in developing a culture that of volunteerism in this important segment."

During the panel, Al Thani highlighted Ooredoo's vision and outlined the company's plans to boost Kuwait's infrastructure with regard to high-speed LTE mobile capability.

"Ensuring an optimum customer experience is at the heart of everything that we do," Al Thani said. "Kuwait is a very sophisticated and competitive market, and our customers are aware of the latest trends in technology.

"This is why we study the latest trends in the global telecommunication to ensure giving our customers the best and latest services and technologies," Al Thani said. "When we launched the first LTE+ network in Kuwait last year – providing the fastest mobile data with the highest quality and the most efficient cost – we took care to deploy the right technologies at the right time and we have benefited from this approach."

Al Thani said Ooredoo Kuwait's high-speed data traffic has jumped 600 percent since the company began offering LTE options.
