Dubai chamber campaigns to bring EICMA motorcycle show to UAE

A delegation from the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently participated in the 2015 EICMA motorcycle exhibition in Milan, Italy, in hopes of eventually bringing the annual trade show to the United Arab Emirates.

The exhibition featured the launch of new motorcycle models and products from industries that included the automotive, bicycle, rickshaw, electronics and electrical goods sectors. It attracted 1,400 exhibitors and more than 60,000 visitors.

During the four-day exhibition, Dubai Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Hamad Buamim met with EICMA President Antonello Montante to discuss the possibility of bringing the annual motorcycle show to the Dubai.

With a recent study predicting the demand for motorcycles will grow the fastest in the Middle East/Africa region by 2018, Buamim said the chamber would be able to support the exhibition in Dubai through its vast membership network that includes more than 70 business councils.

The study, conducted by the Fredonia Group Inc., estimated that the global demand for motorcycles will rise by 5.9 percent annually by 2018, reaching 132.4 million bikes valued at $119.5 billion.
