Dubai Chamber of Commerce to host new business forum in February

The Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry will host a business forum, "Commonwealth of Independent States: Ancient Routes – New Opportunities at Atlantis," on Feb. 17 and 18 at the Palm Hotel in Dubai.

The event is being sponsored by United Arab Emirates Vice President and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Chamber officials are working in tandem on forum content with representatives from the United Kingdom's Economist Intelligence Unit.

“After the revival of the Silk Road initiative that links China to Central Asia and the GCC countries, we believe that big opportunities for the Gulf region lie in reviving a northern corridor linking Dubai via Turkey, Azerbaijan to Moscow and the newly founded Eurasian Economic Union – a group of markets with approximately 350 million people which opens up a gate of opportunities for Dubai traders to benefit from these unexplored business arenas,” Dubai Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Hamad Buamim said.

Buamim said holding the forum at a time when business is slow worldwide may increase attendance and lead to more opportunities for networking, new business partnerships and cooperation between nations.
