Qatar Petrochemical Company (QAPCO) recently celebrated its sixth Annual Qatarization Day by presenting top Qatari employees with awards for their contributions to the company.

“Since our inception in 1974, national leadership is one of the driving forces of QAPCO and gives the company its cultural identity,” QAPCO Managing Director and CEO Mohammed Al Mulla said. “Supporting national and sector employment objectives through direct employment of Qataris makes our company stronger. Our QAPCO family is the heart of everything we do and a force that has propelled us forward.”

Al Mulla said increasing his company's level of local, Qatari workers is central to QAPCO's strategy of developing resilience and efficiency. In 2015, QAPCO maintained a company-wide Qatarization rate of 33 percent, keeping it on pace with the benchmarks set forward by Qatar's national plan for Qatarization. At the executive level, QAPCO's Qatarization is 70 percent.

“Our Quality Qatarization strategy has been recognized six times by an award, which is a tribute to the high level of commitment of our staff, having implemented a highly advanced level of quality Qatarization across all departments,” Al Mulla said. “I thank them personally for their hard work and enthusiasm towards advancing Qatarization at QAPCO. I also express my utmost appreciation to our Qatarization partners for their unwavering support through the year and for allowing our ambitions to become realities.”

QAPCO, founded in 1974, is one of the region's major producers of ethylene and polyethylene.
