Insurance professionals from around the world, including CEOs, high-ranking bankers, authorities in research and Shariah scholars,  gathered in Bahrain this week for the 12th annual Middle East Insurance Forum (MEIF) Institutional Excellence Awards.

The two-day event, held at the Gulf Hotel Bahrain, wouldn’t be possible without the partnership of the Central Bank of Bahrain as well as support from the leading insurance companies of the region.

Nominees for the 12th annual Middle East Insurance Awards were announced in late January; the winners are expected to be announced later this week.

Nominees for the Best Performing Insurance Company - Middle East (Life) are Al Dhafra Insurance Co PSC, Anadolu Hayat Emeklilik AS, Bahrain National Holding Co BSC, Euro Arab Insurance Group PSC and Ras Al Khaimah National Insurance Co PSC.

The nominees for the Best Performing Insurance Company - Middle East (Non-Life) are Qatar General Insurance and Reinsurance Co SAQ, Al Ahleia Insurance Co SAKP, Qatar Islamic Insurance Co QSC, Dubai Insurance Co PSC and Arabian Scandinavian Insurance Co PLC

For Best Performing Insurance Company - Middle East (Overall), the nominees are Al Ahleia Insurance Co SAKP of Kuwait, Anadolu Hayat Emeklilik AS of Turkey, Bahrain National Holding Co BSC of Bahrain, Qatar General Insurance and Reinsurance Co SAQ of Qatar and Qatar Islamic Insurance Co QSC of Qatar.

The nominees for Best Performing Insurance Company - GCC (Overall) are Al Ahleia Insurance Co SAKP of Kuwait, Bahrain National Holding Co BSC of Bahrain, Dubai Insurance Co PSC of the United Arab Emirates, Qatar General Insurance and Reinsurance Co SAQ of Qatar and Qatar Islamic Insurance Co QSC of Qatar.

For Best Performing Insurance Company - Levant (Overall), the nominees are Anadolu Hayat Emeklilik AS of Turkey, Euro Arab Insurance Group PSC of Jordan, First Insurance Co PSC of Jordan, Islamic Insurance Co PSC of Jordan and Jerusalem Insurance Co PSC of Jordan.

The MEIF selection process for winners considers specific financial metrics and offers insurance professionals an unbiased peer-to-peer ranking. The Thomson Reuters EIKON database gathers information that is used for the structure of the valuation process.
