Al Sawari for Industries and Uniform Italia signed a memorandum of understanding last week to form a joint venture to initiate a factory in Qatar to manufacture uniforms for a variety of industries.

Al Sawari Holding Chairman Sheikh Turki bin Faisal Al Thani and Uniform Italia CEO Arnaldo Usai signed the memorandum to invest $35 million in the joint venture in the manufacture, trade and servicing of clothing, uniform and accessories. 

Part of the joint business’ work will be to produce uniforms for the state’s security and military personnel, as well as those who work in the construction, manufacturing and airline industries. The company will also produces uniforms for schools and health care workers.

“We have made significant progress in setting up the joint venture and together the companies are creating a world-class production facility in Qatar,” Al Thani said. “Simultaneously, both sides are evaluating potential industrial sites and are screening the existing local supply chain."

Uniform Italia has played an integral role in the military clothing sector since 1945 and is widely known as one of the top Italian manufacturing companies in the industry of military uniforms. 

In addition to manufacturing uniforms, the company will sell and distribute clothing, accessories and uniforms as part of the agreement in the Middle East, North Africa (MENA) region, Europe and other regions.
