The inaugural Saudi Concrete Conference will be organized by the National Subcommittee for Ready-mix Concrete at the Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC).

The event, supported by Minister of Commerce and Industry Tawfiq Al Rabiah, will be held Sunday, May 1.

The purpose of the conference is to bring awareness to the industry regarding best practices of ready-mix concrete and its role in the development of the kingdom. Chairperson of the Subcommittee Rami Al Turkey said the first-ever event aims to mimic similar conferences where participants exchange their experiences, expertise and technological tools in addition to supporting the industry’s efforts in research and innovation.

The Concrete Conference will move from Riyadh to Jeddah and Khobar on May 3 and May 4, respectively, to delve into the topics of durability tests, shelf life of cement products and performance specifications.

A noteworthy list of regional and internationally recognized guest speakers are slated to take part in the event. Representatives from King Saud University, KFUPM, American Concrete Institute and National Ready Mixed Concrete Association -- as well as other consulting firms, international universities and institutions -- will speak at the conference. Al Turkey encouraged engineers, technicians and experts to participate in the event to advance their careers.

The conference is believed to lure in more than 500 participants, presenting a unique platform to discuss sector-related issues. The event will take place at the Intercontinental Riyadh in King Faisal Conference Hall.
