Bahraini members of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry's (BCCI) Bahraini-Turkish Joint Business Council, headed by Ahmed Bin Hindi, recently welcomed stakeholders from the Investment Support and Promotion Agency of Turkey (ISPAT) at the Bait Al Tijjar building in Riyadh.

Guests at the event included Turkish Ambassador to Bahrain Hatun Demrir and ISPAT Senior Adviser Mustafa Goksu, who emphasized the four pillars of success for Turkey’s economy: investment environment, strategic location, strong domestic market and successful economic policies.

Turkey ranks highly in several areas, Goksu said, including the world’s sixth best tourist destination and ninth highest steel producer, as well as strong showings in the automotive industry and general economy. He complimented Bahraini-Turkish relations, noting that mutual trade in 2015 totaled $329 million.

Bin Hindi extended congratulations to the Turkish delegation, while Demrir communicated enthusiasm for continuing to develop strong business relations between the nations, which have come to enjoy a high level of rapport. Demrir thanked the BCCI for its hospitality and efforts to support business for all parties.

Turkey has had diplomatic relations with Bahrain since at least 1990, when it launched an embassy in the capital of Manama. Bahrain opened an embassy in Ankara in 2008; and trade has increased steadily over the past decade.
