Qatar Airways orders three more G650ER jets

Qatar Airways said this week it has ordered three more G650ER aircraft from Gulfstream Aerospace Corp., making the announcement on the initial day of the 2016 Farnborough International Airshow in the U.K.

The latest order is a part of a 30-aircraft sales agreement between the two companies made in May 2015 and moves Qatar Executive into the space as the largest G650 operator globally. The three aircraft will be added to a fleet of three other identical G650ERs that are already being utilized by Qatar Executive for charter flights.

The announcement came the same day that Qatar Airways Group reported a growth rate of 28 percent within its financial data for the 2016 fiscal year. The order also signifies a positive outlook for the economic future of the largely successful private charter portion of Qatar Airways.

“Gulfstream’s commitment to delivering the world’s finest flying experience has made them world leaders in private aviation, which in turn makes them the perfect partner for Qatar Executive,” Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Akbar Al Baker said. “Their focus on performance, efficiency and innovation mirrors our own, and is the key to our growing and successful affiliation.”

“The demand and desire for private air travel continues to grow and our strategy to offer only the newest and best private jets in the world to our loyal customers is paying dividends,” Al Baker said. “We are seeing increasing bookings and a desire for longer range journeys - now, as the largest dedicated G650 operator in the world, we are able to respond to this need.”

The announcement was made by Al Baker in partnership with Gulfstream President Mark Burns at the Qatar Executive Gulfstream G650ER displayed at Farnborough International Airshow.

“Gulfstream is honored that the G650ER has made such a positive impression on Qatar and its customers,” Burns said. “The response to the G650ER solidifies the aircraft’s prestigious standing in the marketplace as the only aircraft capable of delivering worldwide city pairs in world-class comfort. From the technology in the flight deck to the comforts in the cabin, the G650ER delivers on its promises.”

The G650ER offers the largest, strategically thought-out business-jet cabin and provides flyers with more aisle and feet room, wider seats, the lowest cabin altitude of any business jet, 16 panoramic windows and low cabin noise levels. This aircraft is one of the globe’s most technologically advanced jets and offers Qatar Executive customers the best in private air travel.

This addition, Qatar Airways has announced new destinations to include flights to Auckland, Chang Mai, Seychelles, Marrakech, Helsinki, and Sarajevo. These new flights, in partnership with other announcements to come, will expand the airline’s footprint to different regions.
