The first banking workshop hosted by the Qatar International Chamber of Commerce (ICC Qatar) was deemed a success with more than 150 attendees over the course of the two day event held in Doha.
Ahmed Al-Sheeb, chairman of the ICC Qatar Banking Commission, welcomed attendees to the event during the opening session and highlighted ICC Qatar’s drive to bring such a beneficial training session to Doha.
Those in attendance included bank executives and representatives from the Qatar Stock Exchange, export and import companys, investment houses, law firms and ministries.
“It was a pleasure to host this event for the first time in Qatar and hopefully it will become a yearly event,” Gary Collyer, workshop presenter, said. “We are grateful to ICC Qatar in pushing forth with such events for the banking community.”
A variety of banking related topics were covered during the two-day training event, including document preparation and examination, refusals under documentary credits, benefits and problems letters of credit can bring to a transaction.
Attendees also took advantage of the networking opportunity while being in the same room as leading minds in the banking industry.

The long term strategy for the ICC Qatar Banking Commission will include many events like the banking workshop in the future, officials with ICC Qatar said.
