The joint venture between Hill International and ASTAD Engineering Consultancy and Project Management Company has announced a contract extension with Qatar Railways Company. 

Hill is internationally recognized in the managing construction risk industry and as an 80 percent partner in the joint venture, works with Qatar Railways Company to provided project management services for the Green Line, one of the four new, major railways with the Doha Metro transit system. The contract extension is for 30 months and is valued at nearly $43.1 million.

The Green Line, which passes through Education City, runs east to west from Al Mansoura to Al Riffa. Also known as the Education Line, the railway has several recognizable stops including, the upcoming Qatar National Library, Hamad Hospital and Al Shaqab. It is projected that by 2021, the Green Line will cover roughly 14 miles, have 11 stations and have room to accommodate 140,000 passenger trips each day.

“This contract extension is a reflection of Qatar Railways’ confidence in the Hill team,” Mohammed Al Rais, regional president for Hill’s Project Management Group in the Middle East, said. “We are honored that they continue to turn to Hill for our support on such an important project.”

Engineering News-Record magazine recently listed Hill as the eighth largest construction management firm in the U.S. Hill employs 4,500 specialists in 100 international offices. The company works mainly with buildings, transportation, environmental, energy and industrial markets to provide program management, project management, construction management, construction claims and other consulting services.
