Global defense contractor BAE Systems, in partnership with Abu Dhabi-based Mubadala Development Company, has kicked off its second engineering internship program for students in the UAE.

"We are delighted to welcome the second group of interns from the UAE to BAE Systems," Chris Boardman, managing director of military air and information at BAE Systems, said. "Education and skills development in engineering and manufacturing is at the heart of our company and we are pleased to be able to offer this opportunity to the Emirati engineers of the future. It supports the UAE’s national agenda, giving the young people the opportunity to develop a strong engineering focus."

Held at BAE Systems' Military Air and Information Business Center in England, the 18-week program gives students real-life experience tailored to their engineering disciplines.

"Mubadala is committed to encouraging UAE youth to learn new skills and participate in educational initiatives," Mubadala Aerospace and Engineering Services CEO Homaid Al Shimmari said. "The organic foundations of the UAE have been, and will continue to be, our youth. Our partnership with BAE Systems helps to provide these future leaders with a refined skill set and enables them to have a strong focused approach to learning and innovation, both of which lie at the very heart of the nation’s vision for the future -- a young, vibrant population who contribute to the ongoing development of our society."
