Petrofac awarded Yibal Khuff oil field contract in Oman

Petrofac, a London-based oil and gas industry service provider, has landed a $900 million engineering and procurement contract from Petroleum Development Oman to aid in developing the company’s Yibal Khuff project.

Petrofac is known around the world for providing quality designs for new oil and gas facilities, which the company builds, manages and maintains. They provide similar services for existing facilities while developing and training local personnel.

Petroleum Development Oman and Petrofac are already working side-by-side on the Rabab Harweel Integrated Project. Craig Muir, managing director for Petrofac’s engineering and consulting division, said the deal will cement the relationship.

"This contract... reinforces our presence in Oman where we have a number of ongoing projects and a local engineering office, and where this project will further complement our agenda for increasing in country value,” Muir said. “We will continue to maintain a strong focus on this aspect of our delivery by accessing the local supply chain and recruitment of local resources."

The deal amounts to a 54-month contract through which Petrofac will provide engineering, construction and commissioning management support services at Yibal Khuff, an oil field just over 200 miles to the southwest of Muscat.

Petrofac will also handle procurement for the project that will extend through the construction process and as the integrated oil and gas facility starts up.
