Bechtel announces launch of innovative training program in Gulf region

Bechtel announced last week an agreement with the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipal Affairs to launch an innovative training program involving engineers in Abu Dhabi.

Over the next ten years, up to 100 trainees from Abu Dhabi will be deployed at Bechtel projects for deployments of at least 12 months, with the aim of enhancing the practical and technical skills of Emirati engineers in building and construction areas.

The Emirate of Abu Dhabi has launched multiple education and skills development initiatives over the years to support its long-term economic sustainability. The Bechtel training program complements these efforts by offering Emirati engineers the opportunity to work on major infrastructure projects.

Bechtel has a longstanding presence in the Gulf region and has contributed to some of its most significant infrastructure projects over the years, including most recently the Khalifa Port and Khalifa Industrial Zone in the UAE and the Hamad International Airport in Qatar. It is currently involved with a number of major infrastructure projects including Riyadh Metro, Jubail Industrial City, and new economic cities and industrial areas in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Muscat airport in Oman and the Al Taweelah Alumina and Borouge three petrochemicals complex inAbu Dhabi, UAE.
