Vuclip survey sheds light on UAE mobile video-sharing habits

Vuclip, a premium mobile video-on-demand (VOD) service for emerging markets, released a report this week on its survey of consumer behavior associated with sharing videos on the platform.

The survey collected responses from nearly 5,000 users from the India, Middle East and Southeast Asia markets. The surveys reveal key drivers and emerging trends behind video sharing among mobile users across those regions.

One of the biggest takeaways was that the use of social networks and instant messaging platforms for mobile video sharing is increasing. Approximately 38 percent of respondents said they share videos at least once per month on those platforms. While video sharing on Facebook and Whatsapp were more popular in most markets, consumers in the UAE reported a higher preference for sharing videos on Twitter.

Vuclips data also reveals some interesting trends in terms of what criteria consumers have for sharing a video via their mobile devices. The main drivers for sharability in the UAE market were high-quality video and content, as well as the celebrity appeal of the content.

Music videos top the list for sharing when it comes to professionally created content. After music videos, movie trailers and comedy clips are the most popular.
