Baalbaki Chemical Industries (BCI), one of the Middle East’s leading polyurethane systems, polyester polyol, and adhesives manufacturers, said it recently opened a new manufacturing plant in the United Arab Emirates' Hamriyah Free Zone in Sharjah.

BCI’s new facility will manufacture polyesters and prepolymers. The company plans to use the facility to increase polyurethane and polyester polyol production capacity. The manufacturing plant will also produce specialized adhesives for food packaging.

The move expands BCI’s footprint in the GCC region while also making it easier to serve the Indian and South-East Asian markets more effectively.

BCI Holding Chairman Hassane Baalbaki, said the company hopes to further expand services in the region.

“We aim to further expand our regional footprint by adding additional locations to the existing network of system houses in UAE and Egypt, distribution and TS centers in Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Algeria and Nigeria and representative offices in Shanghai and Beirut,” Baalbaki said. “Proximity to markets and customer intimacy remain a fundamental part of our strategy.”

Baalbaki said BCI’s new plant will allow the company to manufacture more rigid, cold cure, footwear polyurethane systems, aromatic and aliphatic polyester polyols, as well as specialty adhesives for the flexible packaging industry.
