Kuwait University students learn logistics at M.H. Alshaya warehouse
The students were given the opportunity to learn firsthand how the company handles supply chain and logistics operations at the warehouse.
Kuwait University Professor Souhaila Al-Mutawa lead 25 students on a tour of the M.H. Alshaya facilities. Along the way, the students had the chance to inspect the technological solutions and maintenance routines used to keep the warehouse running.
The Mina Abdullah warehouse provides a continuous supply of goods and products to M.H. Alshaya’s retail outlets across Kuwait. More than 350 M.H. Alshaya outlets rely on the warehouse as the company’s central distribution hub for the Gulf nation. The warehouse’s 450 employees receive and distribute everything from health and beauty products to clothes, shoes and food.
The tour helped students get a sense of how much organization and innovation is necessary to keep a large operation up and running.
“Real-world experience is hugely helpful, and enhances our practical knowledge, in addition to the things we learn in class,” one of the Kuwait University students said during the visit. “Learning from an industry leader like Alshaya is always a great advantage.”
