Bloomingdale's to come to Kuwait in 2017

Macy's Inc. will open a Bloomingdale's store at the 360 Mall in Al Zahra in 2017, the company announced last week.

The 93,0000-square-foot, three-level store will be managed and operated by the Al Tayer Group. It will offer designer women's fashions, accessories, beauty products, and personal shopping services. Officials said the store's inventory and atmosphere will reflect the U.S. Bloomingdale's stores, but will also cater to local tastes.

“Kuwait is one of the world’s most sophisticated and upscale fashion markets, and Bloomingdale’s is excited to serve new and existing customers from Kuwait," Bloomingdale's Chairman and CEO Tony Spring said. "We believe we will bring a new dimension in fashion and style for which Bloomingdale’s is known worldwide. This project also represents our latest step forward in an outstanding relationship with Al Tayer Group, which shares our dedication to quality and service. Together, we have made Bloomingdale’s Dubai location one of our most productive stores. We have similar high expectations for Kuwait.”

The Kuwait Bloomingdale's is the second store of its kind in the Middle East and one of three that will be open in the region by 2018. The first opened in Dubai in 2010; the third will open in Abu Dhabi in 2018.

Construction will begin at the 360 Mall in February.
