SENECA COLLEGE: CITE takes shape

Seneca College recently issued the following announcement.

CITE takes shape

The $85-million Centre for Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship (CITE) is progressing on schedule to open later this year at Newnham Campus.

CITE, financially supported by the federal and provincial governments, will bring applied research and commercialization, specialized training and both student and business-led entrepreneurial activities under one roof. It will include classrooms, labs and a presentation gallery that incorporates indigenous design.

There will also be space and entrepreneurial supports to help small-to-medium-size enterprises from North Toronto and York Region build their innovation capacity through access to the facility’s maker spaces, labs, equipment and research expertise.

Underlining Seneca's commitment to environmental sustainability, the CITE building will reduce our carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions through a LEED Gold certification.

Seneca received advice and support for the new building from a broad range of organizations and businesses, including our Seneca Student Federation and the Aboriginal Education Council along with Beckhoff Automation, City of Toronto, Festo, Husky Injection Molding Systems, Iris Power/ Qualitrol, Siemens Canada, Southlake Regional Health Centre, Umbra and ventureLab.
