The Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry recently announced a new initiative that will train a new class of commercial arbitrators.

Arbitrators are typically third parties appointed by a judge or other official to negotiate and resolve a dispute between two more more parties.

The new program, the Abu Dhabi Commercial Conciliation and Arbitration Centre (ADCCAC), will provide a series of six training sessions aimed at giving participants the knowledge and certifications they need to be listed as official arbitrators with the GCC Commercial Arbitration Center.

The courses, beginning Sunday, will be taught by what chamber officials described as “elite professors and specialized lecturers in arbitration,” with ADCCAC Executive Director Magdi Ibrahim Qasem managing  the overall program.

Chamber officials expect the course to empower a new generation of technical and legal arbitrators who want to pursue arbitration as a career. The trainings come at a time when demand for arbitrators is growing, fueled by the region’s continued economic development.
