Abu Dhabi University issued the following announcement on Dec. 10.

Abu Dhabi University (ADU) today inaugurated the IEEE 2019 International Conference in Imaging Systems and Techniques, the premier forum for presenting technological advances and research results. The two-day conference kicked off in the presence of key engaged players including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), as well as Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) as a strategic partner, with the support of the Department of Culture and Tourism and the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the College of Engineering at Abu Dhabi University.

Sponsored by the IEEE, the world’s largest technical professional organization comprised of almost 500,000 members, the conference is set to run at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC). Alongside the event, the IEEE International School of Imaging in Abu Dhabi will also run from December 9-10.

Professor Waqar Ahmad, Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University, said: “In line with the UAE Government’s efforts to support innovation, information technology and development, we are delighted to be hosting the premier forum for imaging systems and techniques, in collaboration with our strategic partner, ADNOC and the patronage of the Department of Culture and Tourism. It is our pleasure to welcome the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers as a sponsor of this year’s conference, which represents as a highly multidisciplinary platform, bringing together industry experts, leaders and academics from various scientific fields to network, share knowledge, and demonstrate research results in all respects of imaging technologies.”

Dr. Hamdi Sheibani, Dean, College of Engineering, said: “The participation of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the College of Engineering at Abu Dhabi University, as the largest engineering college in the UAE and main contributor to developing new engineering and technical education ideas as well as research and innovation development in the country translates ADU’s strategy to support the UAE’s efforts towards transitioning to a knowledge-based economy founded on research and innovation.”

Dr. Sheibani, added: “We are proud of the significant growth of the College of Engineering, and the academic reputation of ADU that has risen 12 places since last year, positioning the university amongst the highest rankings for Academic Reputation, Research Papers per Faculty, International Research Network and Web Impact. “

Commenting on the inaugural of the conference, Dr. Mohammed Ghazal, Abu Dhabi University – General Chair of the Conference, Chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering, said: “Hosting this year’s edition of the IEEE conference represents our commitment as a university to foster a culture of engineering erudition and help bolster Abu Dhabi’s role as a hub for engineering research and innovation. We would like to thank our Strategic Partner ADNOC, for their ongoing support in this regard and for contributing to attracting top tier technical conferences in Abu Dhabi.”

“The scope of the event is to generate new knowledge on multifaceted imaging design principles, systems, and techniques, with applications in medical imaging, genomics and artificial intelligence. Some of the projected outputs of the conference will be aimed at exploring novel pathophysiology and metabolic mechanisms to measure therapeutic efficacy within the medical field.” Dr. Ghazal highlighted.

Ms Reem Mubarak AlBuainain, Manager, Corporate Social Responsibility Department, said: “Technology is at the heart of ADNOC’s operations as we seek to maximize production and create value. We value our partnership with Abu Dhabi University, as together, we learn and explore new and innovative ways to improve performance using the most up to date technologies.”

Amongst the myriad of topics that covered during the conference were imaging informatics, robotic vision systems and industry 4, unmanned autonomous vehicles, the Internet of Things (IoT), space and resources exploration, as well as emerging imaging trends that would ultimately lead to novel systems and technologies.

Abu Dhabi University undergraduate and postgraduate students were invited to submit one-page abstracts to be reviewed and evaluated by the Technical Program Committee. Selected students will be offered the opportunity to present their work in a special poster session, and the best abstract will be announced and recognized during the event.

ABU DHABI UNIVERSITY: Reaching 75% Construction Completion

ADU an internationally recognized academic institution for quality education and applied research, has announced completion of 75% of the construction of its AED300 million new campus in Al Ain’s Asharej district. With over 400 laborers working on the development of the new campus, applying the highest health and safety standards and the safety regulations of the Civil Defense for 2018, the building also meets One-Pearl Estidama requirements for design and operation sustainability.

COUNCIL OF SAUDI CHAMBERS: Council of Saudi Chambers organizes the 12th Ministerial Conference in Najran His Excellency the Minister of Commerce and Investment

The Council of Saudi Chambers in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Najran yesterday (Wednesday) in Najran Chamber, the second ministerial open conference entitled: (incentives of trade and investment in Najran), which is one of the initiatives to stimulate the private sector, with the participation of His Excellency Minister of Commerce and Investment The Chairman of the Council of Saudi Chambers, Dr. Sami bin Abdullah Al-Obeidi, and the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Najran Mr. Muhaimid bin Saleh Al Sharma and a number of officials and business owners in the region.
