Abu Dhabi University (ADU) recognized 172 members of its faculty and staff during a traditional celebration marking the end of the 2015 – 16 academic school year, praising the
staff for its contribution in helping the students and school achieve
administrative and academic goals.
The staff was also recognized for helping the
university achieve accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and
Colleges: Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC).
Nearly 500 attendees were at the ADU’s annual Faculty and
Staff Appreciation Ceremony. Staff from the university as well as Al Ain
campuses were among those in attendance, in addition to Ali Saeed Bin
Harmal Al Dhaheri chairman of the university’s executive board, and Dr. Nabil
Ibrahim, chancellor of Abu Dhabi University.
“I stand before you once again to mark the closing of a
year, and what a year it has been,”
Bin
Harmal
said. “I would like you all to know how
proud I am that you worked together so diligently to secure international
academic accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges:
Senior College and University Commission – WSCUC – for Abu Dhabi University. On
the one hand, obtaining WSCUC recognition demonstrates to the world our
position with regard to our effort to maintain a promise of quality for our
students. From another perspective, WSCUC is also a symbol that confirms your
ability to pull together as a team for a common goal.”
“Looking back, there were so many challenges we faced to
take the first step toward building the dream of Abu Dhabi University,” Bin
Harmal said. “Each one of you represents a shining example of what we can achieve
when we unite together. We have built our history year by year. As we move into
the future, we know we will face challenges; but we will continue to build the
future together. With eyes on the
horizon, we will maintain our course, as there is much to be fulfilled and
improved in order to uphold the promises we make to our students each day.”
The ceremony, sponsored by Dusit Thani Hotel and Le Royal Meriden Hotels, featured a “Vote of Thanks” documentary. After the video, the 172 members were honored for their work and dedication in achieving the WSCUC accreditation.
“In 2008, when I joined ADU, I said that ‘Every great city
must have a great university and ADU is the great University of Abu Dhabi,’” Ibrahim saidy. “Today, after
achieving WSCUC, ABET and AACSB international accreditations we have not only
proven without a doubt that this is true, but that ADU is indeed the great
university of the MENA region. As all great universities, Abu Dhabi University
is defined by its people. The successes we have achieved have been made
possible by the talents, energy and spirit of cooperation of the faculty and
staff who are the heart of our university and whose tireless efforts have
shaped the future of some 7000 students and over 9000 alumni who are living
examples of ADU’s mission and values in the community.”
