Students, faculty and staff on Abu Dhabi University’s campuses participated in the “Pink October Campaign” to raise awareness about the importance of regular and early screenings to help avoid the risks of breast cancer.

Students wore pink clothing and awareness ribbons to help support this annual campaign. The campaign also included an awareness lecture and fundraising activities that support the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) “Pink Caravan,” which helps spearhead the breast cancer awareness movement in the UAE.

Pink October runs through the end of October, highlighting risk factors and symptoms of breast cancer. In the UAE, the campaign is a collaborative effort that also involves Ghantoot Racing and Polo Club, as well as Al Ahlia Hospital. It is sponsored by La Brioche.

October is also National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in the United States; many groups and individuals participate in “Pinktober” events to raise awareness of this form of cancer and help create awareness of early-detection methods.
