ADNOC and SLB have announced the launch of an artificial intelligence-powered Production System Optimization (AiPSO) platform, initially deployed across eight oil fields. The announcement was made at ADIPEC in Abu Dhabi.

The AiPSO platform is powered by SLB’s Lumi data and AI platform and uses Cognite Data Fusion. It analyzes millions of real-time data points using AI and ADNOC’s proprietary machine learning to monitor and optimize production systems, which include thousands of hydrocarbon wells and hundreds of processing facilities. The system connects office and field operations in real time, allowing engineers to diagnose issues and optimize wells within minutes rather than days. This aims to increase workforce productivity and boost production capacity from ADNOC’s wells.

Musabbeh Al Kaabi, ADNOC Upstream CEO, stated: “AiPSO will transform the productivity of our upstream operations as we work to become the most AI-enabled energy company. This industry-leading solution will support our strategy to increase production capacity while significantly enhancing the productivity of our people by freeing them to pursue value-adding opportunities and completing complex tasks up to ten times faster.”

The technology is planned for full deployment across all 25 ADNOC onshore and offshore fields by 2027.

Olivier Le Peuch, SLB CEO, said: “The AiPSO platform is an example of SLB’s ambition to combine artificial intelligence and domain expertise to drive improvements in production and recovery. We are proud to continue our collaboration with ADNOC to jointly deliver advanced digital and AI solutions that drive long-term value and operational resilience for ADNOC both today and tomorrow.”

AiPSO complements other digital initiatives at ADNOC such as ENERGYai, developed with AIQ, which focuses on efficiency, safety, and sustainability across company operations.
