Approximately 7,000 aviation experts landed at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DICEC) recently to attend the
emirate’s 16th Airport Show and experience the latest updates from
over 300 exhibitors at the three-day gathering.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, serving multiple roles as
president of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) and chairman of Dubai
Airports as well as chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, had nothing
but praise to offer. Ahmed toured the large convention accompanied by government
leaders and aviation and economic authorities from the emirate.
“We are pleased to welcome the highest ever number of
exhibitors from all around the world to the Airport Show this year,” Sheikh
Ahmed said. “The Airport Show continues to grow year after year as leading industry
players from across the world seek to tap into the tremendous opportunities
offered by the Middle East’s thriving aviation sector.”
Advertised as the world’s most dynamic airport show, the
convention boasted products and services from more than 55 nations – including Germany,
China, Switzerland, U.S., Canada, France, Italy and the U.K. – with many participating
in “country pavilion” exhibits.
George Hannouche, CEO of Banayat Airports and Engineering
Supplies, has exhibited at the show for 14 years.
“We look forward to (the) Airport Show every year as our
international technology partners join us … to display their latest Airport
innovations,” Hannouche said.
Director Daniyal Qureshi of Reed Exhibitions Middle East,
which organized the event, noted that enthusiastic vendor response reflects a
growing international interest in the Middle East as an aviation hub.
“(Exhibitors) are eager to establish new business relationships as well as strengthen
existing ties and tap into the multitude of opportunities in this region,”
Qureshi said.
