Ajman University and Al Dobowi Group Launch New Named Scholarship to Aid Deprived Students
Ajman University (AU) and Mr. Surender Singh Kandhari, Chairman of Al Dobowi Group, along with his wife Ms. Bubbles Kandhari, Vice Chairperson, as part of their social responsibility and inclusiveness, have launched a new scholarship scheme.
The promising scheme, named, “The Bubbles & Surender Singh Kandhari Scholarship Fund,” targets bright needy students.
The move followed a landmark agreement between both parties to establish a new endowment fund that provides, in perpetuity, an annual scholarship of Ajman University. Renowned businessman, author and philanthropist Surender Singh Kandhari and Bubbles Kandhari provided the scholarship to ensure that bright but economically disadvantaged students have the opportunity to participate in higher education despite economic barriers.
“We are extremely grateful for this incredibly generous contribution. This named fund will empower students and change the trajectory of their lives,” said Dr. Karim Seghir, Chancellor of Ajman University. “Sustainable scholarship funding is a hallmark of excellence in higher education. We are delighted that The Bubbles & Surender Singh Kandhari Scholarship Fund opens these doors for AU Students.”
The principal of Bubbles & Surender Singh Kandhari’s gift will be kept in perpetuity by Ajman University with accrued revenues being used to fund scholarships for needy students who excel academically but face obstacles financially. AU’s Board of Trustees have agreed that AU will match the earnings accrued from this donation in order to double the yearly amount of available funding.
Founded in 1988 as the first private institution of higher education in the United Arab Emirates and the Gulf region, Ajman University is now being recognized as an emerging leader on the global academic map.
