Ajman University of Science and Technology issued the following announcement on March 17.
Ajman University hosted the 4th Media Forum organized by the College of Mass Communication, in the presence and participation of a large group of Arab media professionals from various media organizations in the country. The forum was held under the theme “Media and Values of Tolerance”, which reflected the vision of HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan in upholding the values of tolerance.
Dr. Karim Seghir, Chancellor of AU, inaugurated the forum. Dr Karim stressed the importance of the role played by the media and the values that ought to top the media agenda. Tolerance is an ability and skill and it is the foundation upon which the UAE was founded and the wise leadership established it by forming the Ministry of Tolerance, founding institutions and awarded prizes for tolerance. UAE turned tolerance into a sustainable institutional work that preserves humanity from slipping into a swamp of hatred in a world that accommodates all.
Moreover, Dr. Hosam Salama, Dean of the College of Mass Communication, highlighted the role of media in enriching the positive cognitive state on the human and intellectual level, which eventually brings us together much more than it divides us. Dr. Hosam stressed the importance that our media should be a model that enlightens the paths, elevates the souls, refines behavior, sharpens good deeds with determination, plants cultural values and spreads awareness of the other, and works diligently and continuously to promote tolerance and spread its culture in accordance with a clear strategy and specific mechanisms. He also added, “For this cause, we met together. In order to achieve this noble goal, its activities should be guided by brains that realize the value of tolerance and realize its national, regional and global results”.
