Two Ajman University students recently attended the United Nations Youth Assembly in New York.
Rand
Basheer Shehadeh and Malak Damdoum from the college of engineering were invited
by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineer (IEEE) to participate
in the assembly, which brought together around 700 male and female students
from all over the globe.
The Youth Assembly consisted of three days of comprehensive
workshops, lectures, meetings, field trips, debates and discussions. The platform of events centered around the 17 sustainable goals the United Nations
has set for 2030, including eradicating poverty, improving
education, dealing with climate change and improving gender equality.

The students sat through the events with students from around the globe and discussed ideas and solutions for helping the United Nations reach its goals.

The Ajman University students were accompanied by Tazeen
Sharif, a college of engineering facuty member and the IEEE Women’s Chair for the United Arab Emirates.
