Al Khalij Commercial Bank, part of the al khaliji Group and one of Bahrain’s leading Islamic financial institutions, recently finished a month-long internship program for Carnegie Mellon and University of Qatar students; the program was intended to expose students to various lines of business and to prepare them for future careers in the banking sector.

Ten of Carnegie Mellon Qatar’s top students were honored with the internship positions that allowed practical experience across al khaliji’s banking divisions including personal and commercial banking, finance, operations, marketing and public relations.

Fahad Al Khalifa, al khaliji Group CEO, said the internship program falls in line with the bank’s vision of itself as a “next generation” institution with an eye for creating a prosperous future in the Gulf region.

“At al khaliji, we believe that supporting students through real world job experience will broader the horizon and enhance learning, while enabling them to discover their capabilities to grow professionally and explore career opportunities in the banking sector,” Al Khalifa said. “This is part of our responsibility towards the community whereby we strive to foster an environment of economic prosperity and sustainable human development.”

Such programs also let the bank pick out new emerging talent to develop and bring al khaliji’s team into the future.
