The board of trustees for the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum
Knowledge Award recently conducted its first-ever meeting at the offices of the
Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation (MBRF) to debate the general
policies of the award.

 

The meeting was chaired by Jamal bin Huwaireb, managing director at MBRF, vice chairman of the board and secretary general
of the award. In attendance were Nick Rawlins, professor of behavioral neuroscience at the University of Oxford; David Bennett, vice president for Global Corporate Partnerships at National Geographic; Dr. Ali Al Ghafli, vice dean for social sciences at the College of Humanities and
Social Sciences, UAE University; Alexander Zehnder, visiting professor and member of the Nanyang Technological
University (NTU) board.

 

The award exists to galvanize a shift toward a knowledge
economy in the Middle East and throughout the world. The goal is to create a
culture based on knowledge and the dissemination of it by honoring intellectual
and creative achievements.

 

“The Knowledge Award seeks to
raise awareness about the importance of spreading knowledge as a means to
achieve sustainable development by honoring the pioneers working to revolutionize
the knowledge industry,” bin Huwaireb said.
