Al Meera Consumer Goods, the Qatari supermarket chain, is on a mission to expand operations in Qatar to ensure residents in diverse communities from all segments of society have access to Al Meera’s goods and services.

Mohammed Nasser Al Qahtani, Al Meera’s deputy CEO, said one major part of the strategy is to reach highly populated areas that aren’t already served by a shopping mall. That, he said, is a goal that is also shared by Qatar’s government.

“Al Meera’s expansion comes in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030, as it aims to develop various areas in Qatar following the state’s urban planning,” Al Qahtani said.

He also said the expansions would “serve all communities in the state and ensure profitability for all [Al Meera] shareholders.”

On top of opening new branches, Al Meera is working in parallel to renew old branches, modernizing branches in Al Mansoura, Hazm Al Markhiya, Onaiza, Bin Omran, Khalifa South, Al Maamoura, Al Wakra and others.

The company has opened nine new stores in the last four years, raising the number of branches from 23 branches to 32 branches by the end of 2014.

“The construction of the new branches of Al Meera follows the contemporary design of the modern shopping malls which includes a supermarket, shops, restaurants and other facilities,” Al Qahtani said. “The construction works are in accordance with the international standards and the latest interior designs and lighting systems that guarantee a distinctive shopping experience.”
