Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) has become the first aluminium smelter to receive the British Safety Council (BSC) 5-Star rating. The announcement was made by Alba’s CEO, Ali Al Baqali, during the ARABAL 2025 conference.

Al Baqali emphasized the significance of this achievement for the company and its workforce. “This 5-Star certification is more than a badge, it’s a reflection of our people, our culture and our purpose. At Alba, safety is not just a protocol; it’s a mindset that drives everything we do. This recognition belongs to every Albawee,” he said.

During his presentation at ARABAL 2025, Al Baqali explained that moving from a 4-Star to a 5-Star rating was possible due to teamwork across all departments. He also highlighted that Alba completed its ninth consecutive summer without any heat-related injuries or illnesses among employees. This is notable given the demanding conditions of aluminium production and high summer temperatures in Bahrain.

Al Baqali led Alba’s delegation at ARABAL and participated in executive panel discussions with other industry leaders about sector challenges and opportunities. Rawdha Salman Alaradi, Senior Manager of Recruitment and Labour Affairs at Alba, also took part as a panelist in the ‘Women in Industry’ session. She discussed initiatives aimed at empowering female employees and promoting gender diversity within the company.
