American University of Dubai professor named to UAE Sustainability Research Committee

American University in Dubai said School of Arts and
Sciences Associate Professor of Natural Sciences Meis Moukayed was recently appointed as a member of the United Arab Emirates (UAE)
Sustainability Research Committee.

The committee, which will be headed by

Minister of Climate Change and Environment Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi and facilitated by its chair,. Dr. Majid Sultan Al Qassimi, will
develop a national strategy to support environmental sustainability research in
educational and research institutions.

The committee is made of up of members from various
organizations, including the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, Ministry
of Education, Khalifa University of Science and Technology, Dubai Police
Academy, Masdar Institute, International Center for Biosaline Agriculture,
Dubai Real Estate Institute, United Arab Emirates University and DEWA (Dubai Electricity and Water Authority) .

“Our UAE leaders have an incredible vision and continue in
their unwavering efforts to build a strong sustainable nation for their people,
and to ensure through every mechanism possible the continued sustainability,
happiness and security of the people of the UAE,” Moukayed said. “I am honored
to be appointed to this committee and to contribute to this sustainability
mission and vision of our beloved UAE.”
