American
University of Sharjah (AUS) recently hosted panel discussions
as part of an annual AUS Careers Forum, an event that brought together business
leaders, high-level policymakers and prominent industry scholars.
The panel
discussions were held under the theme of “Global Economic Challenges:
Current Impact and Consequences for the Job Market” and examined global and
regional economic challenges. Topics of the panels included professional career
choice and development in family firms, digital revolution, future
economies and issues related to globalization.
“The
forum is one of AUS’s flagship events as it connects both academia and aspects
of academe with the world of business,” Leland Blank, interim provost
and chief academic officer at AUS, said.
Blank said higher education is not just about classrooms and laboratories, but also about experiencing the real world, seeing what’s happening in business and
understanding globalization.
“This
is a very special forum where discussions that happen today in addition to
tomorrow’s career fair, offer opportunities for students, members and employers
to get together, one on one, make plans and look at career opportunities,” Blank said.
