The American University of Sharjah (AUS) has awarded the Active Student Partial Scholarship to nine students attending the educational institution for the 2016 fall semester.

Students who received the scholarship of up to 50 percent tuition remission for the semester are Samaa Abasher, Hanan Arab, Mehak Ayaz, Ahmed Azari, Haleema Khawas, Karan Mohan, Mahmoud Rezk, Rahsi Shafana and Zulfikar Shahpurwala.

The Active Student Partial Scholarship is given to undergraduate students who have displayed excellence in extracurricular activities such as clubs, community service and the student leadership program.

“Congratulations to all of you for your well-deserved award,” AUS Dean of Students Moza Al Shehhi said. “We thank you for your contributions to student life at AUS, and we hope that you will keep up with the good work that you do. This partial scholarship is a gesture of the university’s acknowledgement of your hard work and contributions. I do hope that you will continue to become role models to inspire more students to excel in the extracurricular field.”

AUS offers students numerous scholarships and grants to help them with their education costs. These depend on financial need, academic qualifications, leadership potential and participation in community service and extracurricular activities.
