American University of Sharjah students to serve as youth ambassadors

The Sharjah Executive Council has selected eight students from the American University of Sharjah (AUS) to be members of the Sharjah Youth Council, which was created to strengthen the role that young individuals play in the development of the United Arab Emirates.

AUS students that will serve as council members are finance student Sultan Alshamsi, a freshman; visual communication student Fatima Alshamsi, a junior; chemical engineering student Rawda Alsuwaidi, a junior; computer science student Sultan Alqasimi, a junior; industrial engineering student Fatima Binashour, a senior; mechanical engineering student Harith Al Midfa, a senior; industrial engineering graduate student Noora Alqasemi; and engineering systems management graduate student Salim Alowai.

Each were chosen based on their academic performance and extracurricular experiences.

“I congratulate our students for being appointed in a very special role in the Sharjah Youth Council,” AUS Dean of Students Moza Al Shehhi said. “With our students’ talents and experiences in performing lead roles in extracurricular activities, I am confident that they possess the requisite skills to deliver more than what is expected from them. I wish them good luck and I encourage them to perform their best to represent the youth of Sharjah and contribute to the development of the UAE as a whole.”

Seven students from the University of Sharjah were also appointed to the council.
