Axalta Coating Systems recently began production at its expanded resin manufacturing facility in the Mexican city of Tlalnepantla.

“The opening of this facility, which takes place as Axalta celebrates its 150th anniversary, reflects the extensive operations and technology expertise based in Mexico that we were able to draw on to design and construct a production complex which joins what is already a world-class production facility and one of our largest operations centers in the world,” Axalta Chairman and CEO Charlie Shaver said. “Our investment in this facility will enable us to support our customers with the latest coating technology and reflects our long-term confidence in both the future of Mexico and our expectations for continued growth across the region.”

The facility will help Axalta produce the resins that are the foundation of its liquid coatings, including the latest waterborne coatings and traditional solvent-borne varieties. The substance is also responsible for making all of the company’s coatings capable of withstanding factors such as ultraviolet light and weather.

Axalta serves more than 100,000 customers across 130 countries. Its liquid and powder coatings are used by manufacturers of light and commercial vehicles, as well as those involved in the vehicle refinishing and industrial markets.
