Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance recently issued the following announcement.

The Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) and Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI) of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore areas of cooperation in human resource development for Islamic banking and finance.

The MoU was signed by the Director of the BIBF, Dr. Ahmed Abdul Hameed Al Shaikh, and the Director General of IRTI Dr. Humayon Dar, and, on behalf of their respective organisations, at the BIBF premises.

Under the provisions of the MoU, BIBF and IRTI and will collaborate to undertake joint programmes and initiatives aimed to develop human capital for the Islamic banking and finance sector globally.

On this occasion, the BIBF’s Director, Dr. Ahmed Abdul Hameed Al Shaikh, said, “The BIBF is an established global training provider in Islamic finance, having the distinction of being one of the first institutes worldwide to provide an Islamic finance professional qualification. We are honoured to work with IRTI to contribute towards advancing the human capital potential of the Islamic finance industry.”

On his part, Dr. Dar said, “We are delighted to work with the BIBF which is the leading training provider especially in Islamic finance. IRTI will be working closely with the BIBF to establish the BIBF as one of IRTI-Trusted Global Centres of Excellence.”

Prior to the MoU signing ceremony, Dr. Dar and Dr. Al Shaikh met with H.E. Rasheed Mohammed Al Maraj., Governor of the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB), who endorsed the agreement between the two organisations and hoped that this would be the beginning of an extensive engagement between them for research and training in the field of Islamic banking and finance.
