During a visit to the United Kingdom, Bahrain Minister of Foreign Affairs Khalid Al Khalifa gave
a speech affirming the course of relations between the two countries.

Al
Khalifa stated his country’s belief that much progress is
being made in all areas of cooperation.

The speech was made at an annual dinner hosted by the
Bahrain-British Friendship Society. Al Khalifa praised historical relations
between the two nations: they have
collaborated for more than 200 years. Through these two centuries, there has
been important growth in political, economic and military matters.

Tobias Ellwood, the British undersecretary of state for
Middle East affairs, expressed the U.K.’s belief at the event
that the strength and diversity of the distinct ties between the U.K. and the kingdom of Bahrain will help continue the progress made.

Al Khalifa noted that he looks forward to meeting with
Theresa May, prime minister of the U.K., in December.
