First Vice Chairman Khalid
Alzayani, who is head of the BCCI old markets committee, presided over a recent meeting that was held in Bait Altijjar.

During the meeting, Alzayani reiterated the goal of the old markets committee
of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) — collaborating with GCC
countries to develop and support old markets.

Meeting attendees also discussed the group’s commitment to
revitalizing old markets and overcoming challenges that are halting the
partnership between government, business and economic entities in Bahrain.

It was
highlighted by the group that the revived old markets will not be in competition
with the newer shopping centers, but will act as historic and cultural tourist
attractions, each with their own unique identity.
