Primary Health Care Centers (PHC) recently launched its first book aimed at enhancing medical services in Dubai.
PHC, part of the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), hopes the certified data can be used for research and policy making purposes.
“Having accesses to such data for studies and bench marking is critical for learning more about how well the services and system in place are working, this is vital to better create strategies and developmental plans that are effective and of benefit to the people of Dubai – hence fulfilling the vision of DHA and the government of Dubai,” PHC CEO Manal Taryam said.
The book revealed that in 2015 more than 714,000 Dubai residents visited PHC with the majority of visits being for family medicine, care from 24 hour clinics and dental care. Most visiting for the latter reason was for general dental care.
Specialized care visits included those seeking care for diabetes (12,535), ophthalmology (11,378), ENTs (4,119), dieticians (4,105), dermatology (3,167) and orthopedics (2,396).
PHC also received visits from more than 244,000 students to obtain vaccinations and more than 23,000 women for pregnancy care.
PHC is made up of 20 health centers and peripheral clinics throughout Dubai.
