The Honorable Mention award was presented to Carnegie Mellon
Qatar (CMU-Q) student Umair Qazi at the 2016 Eurasia Model United Nations (EurasiaMUN) conference in Passau, Germany, for the work he completed while serving as the
delegation for Brazil.

The first CMU-Q team to take part in an international
model U.N. conference consists of Qazi and several other students, namely Avni
Pherwani, Sanjeet Sahni, Bisma Munawar and Farha Khan.

The EurasiaMUN is a chance for students to come together and
learn about international relations, diplomacy, current events and the agenda of
the U.N. The conference is a global event that allows students to
create educational reproductions of the U.N.

“Traveling to Germany and attending the conference with
talented people from all around the world was a special experience,” Sanjeet
Sahni, rising senior in the business administration program, said. “We are happy
with our performance and proud that we were able to represent Carnegie Mellon
well on an international platform.”

In the three years of its existence, the CMU-Q U.N. club has held
two high school conferences.
