Lee Ching-Wen, the Republic of China’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, met with members of the Saudi-Chinese Business Council (SCBC) at the Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC) for a discussion on how to create a better economic future for the two countries.

The two sides discussed ways to create a better economic future for the two countries.

Saudi Arabia has been the largest exporter of crude oil to China; China is also a key trade partner to Saudi Arabia in Africa and western Asia. Likewise, China is a key trade partner to the kingdom. The Chinese ambassador assured that China will continue importing Saudi oil and collaborating to help stabilize oil prices. He additionally mentioned the “silk road” project which aims to enhancing cooperation with countries in the region — and Saudi Arabia in particular — due to its geographic and economic position.

Wen dismissed claims about the deterioration of Chinese economy, explaining that it has entered into a new era focusing on quality and sustainability of the economy and being more open to international markets.

The meeting concluded with an open session discussing ways to enhance Saudi-Chinese relations and to remove obstacles that hinder them from improving relations.
